Mobile Learning has finally come of age. It’s been on the horizon for many years, but now with bandwidth available for mobiles & the devices themselves are becoming more capable to start competing with computers in processing capabilities, it’s finally here! We believe mobile learning has the potential to truly become anywhere, anytime, for anyone learning. My colleague Abhijit Kadle has written about the myths of mobile learning earlier and also posted a great list of top 50 mobile learning resources. We have worked on some projects for our clients to create small learning modules delivered to mobile devices and game-like quizzes. These are exciting times for mLearning.

I am also excited to share that Upside Learning has partnered with Skill-Pill of UK to resell their mobile learning catalog courseware in India and some other markets. We are also working with them to develop custom pills for their and our clients.

What is a Skill-Pill?
Simply put they are two minute learning videos which can be delivered straight to your mobile device. You could view them whenever you have time or wherever you are. I use these pills most when I am travelling on suburban trains or waiting at the airport or sometimes even when waiting for a client meeting.

What better way to tell you about them than a Skill-Pill itself?

These pills (over 100 in number and growing) are categorized into domains like Leadership, Management, Personal Skills, & Sales. Custom pills are great to provide pre- and post-workshop information, reminders etc. Some companies have found custom Skill-Pills are a great way to deliver employee communication specially by creating animated avatars of their CEOs or other senior staff. It’s very focused and personal communication for your busy employees.
