This is great info. As many travel or work abroad temporarily on assignments or permanently as an expert, I believe there is growing need on enabling learning of new languages on the go. There are some products out there from the travel guide books such as lonely planet (http://www.lonelyplanet.com) or language learning technology and platform, LangLearner (http://www.langlearner.com). Some of these provide free version for different mobile devices such as iPhone, Android and Window Mobiles.
Please let me know if you find any other good ones but so far don't see other comprehensive ones... would Rosetta Stone get into the space and slash the price of the expensive thousands of dollars of their desktop software package to a generally $0.99 mobile apps? that remind to be a question....

I'd like to add some more from my experience:

A mobile device is, first of all, "mobile", so use it on the move! In out of the classroom activities, such as in a botanic garden to teach about flowers, etc.
7. Geolocation: Take advantage of where the student/teacher is in each moment, so you can better personalize the offered services.
7. Take advantage of the existing services and knowledge in your e-learning platform. Re-use! Don't create everything again from scratch!
8. Design your application supposing full connectivity.Mobile broadbands are getting cheaper and more spread everyday, so design your app for tomorrow, not for yesterday.

Good job UpsideLearning!
