Mobile Learning has finally come of age. It’s been on the horizon for many years, but now with bandwidth available for mobiles & the devices themselves are becoming more capable to start competing with computers in processing capabilities, it’s finally here! We believe mobile learning has the potential to truly become anywhere, anytime, for anyone learning. My colleague Abhijit Kadle has written about the myths of mobile learning earlier and also posted a great list of top 50 mobile learning resources. We have worked on some projects for our clients to create small learning modules delivered to mobile devices and game-like quizzes. These are exciting times for mLearning.

For an eLearning initiative to be successful, strong leaders and champions are needed in the organization. It also needs a robust and reliable LMS solution amongst others (great courses, proper alignment of the training function with the LMS, technical support for the entire setup, etc.) The LMS remains a key link in the success chain.

I’ve been occupied with writing a paper to promote the adoption of mobile learning amongst corporates and enterprises. While trawling through multiple web-links, a pattern of myths about mobile learning emerges. Quite a bit of back and forth about these myths – I’m taking the liberty of listing and describing the five that struck me as odd, and am attempting to debunk them to an extent. I’ll be the first to admit there is always an element of truth behind myths; but with the rate of technological change, quite a few of those ‘truths’ would seem like falsehoods today.
