Upside Learning’s Learning Management System, UpsideLMS, has been implemented at two educational institutions in Pune: MAEER’s Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Distance Education and MAEER’s MIT College of Insurance.

UpsideLMS is a fully web-based, multilingual, feature-rich, SCORM and AICC compliant LMS. It is a robust solution, with an in-built competency mapping module, which enables organizations to manage, deliver, and track their online learning.

MAEER’s MIT is one of the foremost centers of academic and professional education and training in India, and offers programs in a variety of disciplines. The two LMS implementing institutes conduct courses of different durations and delivery modes. They had distinct needs and requirements from the underlying technology platform and needed a solution that could be adapted to meet these differing requirements. UpsideLMS proved to be a highly flexible tool in effectively meeting both sets of specifications; it was configured for two distinct implementations and deployed separately for both the institutes.

When implementing UpsideLMS at MAEER’s MIT College of Insurance, it was configured to support a high load of users on a regular basis. With heavy concurrency requirements and a rapidly increasing user base, the LMS had to be highly optimized and well-designed to handle such high loads. This was all the more vital as its entire response was required to be bound by strict IRDA guidelines in terms of time spent, security etc. UpsideLMS responded well to these critical requirements and is running smoothly with a high daily load.

UpsideLMS comes with a host of tools to make the learning experience much more productive and engaging. Along with a very robust assessment engine for conducting online exams for certifications, it also offers a variety of collaborative learning tools such as online chat, forums, online reference resources, and FAQs that help promote learning and student interaction.

UpsideLMS has been included in the Brandon Hall Knowledge Base 2007 and already has over 50,000 users across hosted and behind-the-firewall implementations. The implementations at MAEER’s MIT demonstrate Upside Learning’s capability as a reliable partner for LMS deployments for both academic institutes as well as corporate organizations. It proves yet again that as an eLearning product and service provider, Upside Learning can handle high-load implementations and keep customers satisfied.

Upside Learning to participate in the 2007 BangaloreIT.in Exhibition from October 29 to November 1.

BangaloreIT.in kicks-off on the 29th of October. This is a 4-day conference and exhibition that will bring together top management executives and officers, ICT professionals, country delegates, venture capitalists, government representatives, students, and many other participants and visitors from countries across Asia, the Far East, and the Middle East.

It is hosted by the Department of Information Technology & Biotechnology and Science & Technology (IT, BT and S&T), Government of Karnataka, and co-hosted by the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) society, with CyberMedia Events as event manager.

The conference sessions will revolve around clusters and best practices, the domestic market, and education and development. The exhibition will provide a platform for organizations and individuals to showcase innovative products and services and share knowledge and ideas.

Upside Learning takes part in the eINDIA2007 Expo in New Delhi…

It’s almost time for the eINDIA2007 Expo. This is a unique exposition in India to promote the use of Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D). Participants include Indian and international government organizations, international agencies, international agencies, civil society organizations, private organizations, and academic institutions.

The exposition provides a platform for participants to share knowledge and generate strategic collaborations to discover new and innovative ways of using ICT for (India’s) social and economic development. They can showcase their solutions and interact directly with customers and prospects. They can also participate in a number of conferences, panel discussions, and workshops on topics related to eGovernance, digital learning, Telecentre, mobile technologies, healthcare, community radio, and agriculture.

Fire Safety and Prevention course wins the prestigious Apex 2007 Grand Award in the Electronic and Video Publications category...

The Fire Safety and Prevention custom content course created for Tooling University, Ohio, USA, was the winner of an Apex Grand Award in the Apex 2007 Awards for Publication Excellence.

The Apex Awards are presented annually to recognize excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. Within these, the Apex Grand Awards specifically honor outstanding work in the main categories. This year, there were 223 entries in the Electronic and Video Publications category, out of which just 8 won Grand Awards. We are proud that Fire Safety and Prevention was one of these.

For us, the award is recognition that our instructional and visual design capabilities are truly world-class. The course was targeted at students enrolled in online classes with the aim of reinforcing their learning through engaging and interactive content. This was achieved by creating a job-realistic story and playing it out in a factory environment resembling that in real-life. As the story unfolded, students had to take decisions or resolve problems based on the situations; they were provided with feedback accordingly.

Upside Learning expands its infrastructure, moves to new premises…

Over the weekend of June 30 and July 01, we shifted from our Koregaon Park offices into new, larger premises in Warje, off the Pune-Bangalore highway. Our new office is spread out over 2 floors covering a total area of 14,000 square feet. We now have a combined seating capacity of 300, which is about three times that of our previous workplace.

At the same time, we have also upgraded our infrastructure to increase capacity and speed. The Warje office is set up with 24/7 high-speed Internet connectivity over 2 lines of 2 Mbps bandwidth each, with a backup line of 1 Mbps bandwidth. In order to promote better security, we have also installed a bio-metric attendance system to control access into the workspace. Meanwhile, the work areas are modern, spacious, and comfortable.

Upside Learning, today is probably one of the fastest growing eLearning companies in India. This new space provides us the scalability options to meet the needs of our growing client list.

Upside Learning crosses the 100-employee milestone…

In less than 3 years, Upside Learning has crossed the 100-employee milestone. Our growing business has led to a steady increase in the number of employees in both Content and Technology Solutions; and with bigger teams, our HR & Admin and Systems Support teams have also increased in size.

We have ambitious growth plans, and have been increasing the strength of our marketing and sales team in order to realize these. We fully expect our growth cycle to continue, with more orders in turn necessitating even more employees and skillsets to meet them. Keeping this in mind, we are constantly seeking to expand our teams with motivated and experienced individuals who welcome challenges and enjoy seeing their ideas materialize.
