MOBILITY: LET'S NOT PHONE IT IN!

MOBILITY: LET'S NOT PHONE IT IN!

Spaced learning is a powerful approach to long-term, sustained learning. It aims to deepen the knowledge gradually with deliberate training support over a period of time and for a range of experiences and competency levels, to accompany organisational lifecycles.

Learners are able to draw on their actual experiences to contextualise the new learning and integrate it for deeper understanding. This is good not only for deep learning; it also improves transfer and timely recall of relevant knowledge.

Mobility just means that the training interventions are better integrated in the learner's life; their presence is more readily available to trigger and generate the 'A-ha!' moments.

Because as we all know, an 'A-ha!' builds over time.

INTERACTIVE VIDEO – KEY TOOLS FOR AN IMMERSIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCES

We know you've been for waiting for this one! After the superb instructional possibilities that interactive videos have to offer, who wouldn't want to know which tools work well? Well, we checked out some, and here's what we found.

Go on then, see what the verdict is!

A 2016 World Economic Forum report, 'The Future of Jobs', reinforces what we now know about the skills we'll need for the near future:

Top 10 skills in 2020:

1. Complex problem solving

2. Critical thinking

3. Creativity

4. People management

5. Coordinating with others

6. Emotional intelligence

7. Judgment and decision-making

8. Service orientation

9. Negotiation

10. Cognitive flexibility

There are some interesting things to think about there. Not one skill mentioned in that list is a domain-specific skill: it seems that domain-independent, basic thinking and relating skills are in high demand. The way 'Complex problem solving' has been at the top of several lists for a while now, it's clear that learning culture has to evolve to reward patient problem solving over knowing 'tips and tricks'. But go ahead, read the whole thing here - and do spend some time learning more about the Fourth Industrial Revolution as described by the Founder and Chairman, Klaus Schwab. It's fascinating stuff!

The Reflecting Pool Still not sure of what an "A-ha!" moment looks like? Let's just look at some examples from Forbes.
The Reflecting Pool Inc.com features an article breaking down how to trigger the "A-ha!" moments. It's based on neuroscience findings, presented using the catchy acronym 'LUMIAMI'.
The Reflecting Pool To get a better look at the value that unconscious background processing has to offer, how about this article pointing back to academic research without getting too technical?
