The Future Of Mobile Learning

From The Director’s Desk

One of our Custom Learning projects has won a Brandon Hall Award and we just can’t stop raving about it! Winning this award not just makes us proud but at the same time it encourages us to do better in the future.

Besides winning this award‚ September was full of activities for us - the World of Learning Conference & Exhibition 2012‚ MobiMOOC‚ and an in-house webinar on LMS Switching. And this has just set the trend for the coming months.

We will be at the CLO Summit to be conducted in Mumbai‚ India on 1st and 2nd November where I will also be delivering a power session on Mobile Learning. This brings me to the webinar I will be conducting with my colleague on 22nd October. Come November‚ we will be presenting a webinar on Blended Learning via LMS from the Indian perspective. So make sure you book your seats now.

Coming to this issue of UL Buzz‚ we share some insights on the emerging trends in Learning Management Systems‚ help you understand the difference between mobile learning and tablet learning‚ and shed some light on the possibilities in mLearning. There’s lots more that will interest you‚ I promise!

Key Emerging Trends In LMS

Are you pondering over future LMSs and the way they will look like then? We were too‚ which urged us to identify the emerging trends that are most likely to dominate the future LMSs. One prominent fact‚ which we came across‚ is - ‘today’s needs are tomorrow’s trends’. On parallel lines‚ an LMS too needs to camouflage into the trends born out of changing learning technologies and business requirements.

Learn more about Key Emerging Trends in LMS as we talk about Cloud Based LMS‚ Personal Learning Environment (PLE)‚ Gamification and Talent Management.

Some Thoughts On Tablet Learning

Where would you put a tablet (let’s consider an iPad) if I ask you to classify it according to the form of learning it supports? In all probability you have answered ‘Mobile Learning.’ Well‚ your answer is correct theoretically‚ but not practically anymore.

Read some thoughts on tablet learning (aka eLearning on iPads) and understand how ‘tablet learning’‚ despite meeting every criterion that defines mobile learning‚ is not equal to mLearning.

Two Upcoming Webinars - Mobile Learning and Blended Learning

How many times have you thought of adopting mobile learning in your organization but the myths surrounding it have stopped you right in your path? Unfortunately‚ this is the story of almost every organization planning to include mLearning in its L&D plans. But we are here to clear the adoption path for you. Register now for our free webinar ‘Busting 7 Mobile Learning Myths’ and see mobile learning with a different but clear perspective and take informed decisions while implementing it.

Another roadblock that seems to be dampening the potential of Learning Management Systems (LMSs) is it’s ability to manage Blended Learning programs. This is especially true for Indian corporates wherein LMS implementations are done with a clear view of managing more than just eLearning. Our 2nd webinar‚ ‘Leveraging LMS for Managing Blended Learning: The Indian Perspective’ will share tips and tricks for leveraging LMS for managing Blended Learning with an Indian viewpoint.
