From The Director's Desk

As a company driven by innovation, we have always explored new forms of technology. For some years now, we have been experimenting with Augmented Reality (AR) and finding the best ways to utilize it in the learning domain. In the process, we have successfully developed AR applications like Pune Layar, an AR application for mobile phones developed first time for an Indian city; and AR Street Racing, a simple racing game.

So when we heard from Elearning! Magazine earlier this year about a special issue focusing on AR, it was exciting to say the least. Contributing to this issue, we knew, would be a perfect opportunity to show the world at large some of our experiments with AR. So here we are – we have developed the Augmented Reality cover for Elearning! Magazine’s July/ August 2011 issue! Grab an issue today.

And while you see the AR cover in action, don’t forget to drop us a line should you be looking for such innovative learning solutions.

The Promise Of 3D Learning

Although 3D simulation and collaborative environments have huge potential in the learning domain, very little substantive information about companies implementing such systems with any reasonable success is available. Also, while there are many experiments, very few are able to justify any sort of return on the expense.

We discuss the possible reasons for the existing gap between technology development and adoption by the L&D community. And if you are considering adopting 3D in some way for learning, you might want to leaf through the presentations too. Find it all here.

We Develop An AR Cover For Elearning! Magazine

We have developed an Augmented Reality cover for Elearning! Magazine’s July/ August 2011 issue, making it the first-ever eLearning magazine to have an interactive cover using Augmented Reality technology. This consists of a simple marker printed on the magazine’s cover, which when held up to a computer camera, serves as the entry point into some interaction and media display.

We have been instrumental in the complete development process of the application right from conceptualization to implementation. Know how we developed this and see the AR cover in action here.

Experiential Learning Through Simulation Labs

Simulations help bring the learner closer to situations that exist in real life by recreating complex environments that mirror actual conditions or systems. Based on this principle, know how we helped Tooling U, a leading online-training provider, to reinforce technical knowledge gained through static online courses for its students.

Some of the highlights of this solution were a series of interactive labs mimicking real-life scenarios, dramatic feedback to grab learner’s attention and appropriate practice questions intercepted throughout the labs.

It also discusses how developing DGBL is different from developing conventional eLearning.

Read this white paper to know how to use digital games effectively at this time and given the current state of game technology. Download now.
