Free Mobile Learning Course – MobiMOOC2012

Written by

The second edition of MobiMOOC starts next month. Inge De Waard (@ignatia), the organizer of MobiMOOC started this fantastic event last year which was quite successful. For MobiMOOC 2012 she’s lined up a very impressive faculty to conduct weekly sessions on mobile learning and related topics. I feel absolutely honored to be included amongst them and I look forward to interacting and learning from the participants of these sessions. I will be facilitating the Corporate mLearning during the week 23rd to 29th September and have drafted a plan, which I intend to update with your inputs. Do feel free to send in your thoughts on the topics you would like me to include. For those amongst us who are new to this concept (like me) a MOOC is a Massive Open Online Course. Here’s a great video by Dave Cormier explaining the MOOC concept.

A quick overview of MobiMOOC 2012
As the organizers say, a MOOC is all about dialogue, discussions and building upon each other’s experiences. MobiMOOC2012 will be a forum of various learning activities intended for interactive exchange of information, knowledge, latest technical developments in mobile learning. The wide range of free courses will cover topics related to mLearning that will help you in designing mlearning strategy and bringing about its effective implementation.

You can find details on the course timings, topics and respective facilitators, and other important information on MobiMOOC wiki.

MobiMOOC 2012 will run from Saturday, 8 September – Sunday, 30 September 2012. You can register for the course by becoming a member of the Google group here.

MobiMOOC Award: You can also participate in MobiMOOC Award by submitting your mLearning project overview and get a chance to win a prize of 500 USD. The winning entry will be judged based on its impact and usability in difficult or challenging situations.

I’ve been warned by Inge to be prepared to be overwhelmed – just not sure of its scale, so preparing myself!

Look forward to seeing you there. I hope this course will give us an opportunity to learn from each other’s experience. I do look forward to your thoughts on the session plan and please do take a moment to share this post and spread the good word around. Thanks.
