7-Eleven

UL has developed training modules for 7-Eleven Australia’s in-store staff, Franchisees or Store Managers. The modules serve to introduce new hires to operational processes, internal procedures or products, and to bring across their roles and responsibilities in adhering to the relevant internal policies and practices. The uniform learning experience offered through these modules offers 7-Eleven the opportunity to introduce new hires to the company, the brand, and what it stands for, ensuring that they are set up for success.

The modules use a combination of 2D vector graphics and photo-based backgrounds against which content was presented. The modules are driven by illustrated 2D characters representing learners (and their colleagues) with content delivered in a conversational tone. The content presentation includes 2D animated videos featuring dialogues between characters, interactive screens for layered content, and simple built-up sequences of text and visuals.

MCFA – Technical Training for the Sales-force

UL has developed a series of courses to impart knowledge about the core technical systems that underlie the MCFA product range to salespersons. To succeed in selling MCFA products and solutions, the salesperson is required to have a fundamental understanding of the science and automotive systems that are used in forklift trucks. These courses let the salespersons develop that understanding, enabling them to have educated conversations with clients. This, in turn, leads to MCFA personnel providing clients with better solutions, while increasing MCFA product sales.

This series of modules use technical illustration, simple and concise animations, meaningful interactions and interspersed practice and a final assessment. Given the nature of the content, the technical accuracy of the drawings was critical. All animations are based on these correct illustrations and represent real-world workings of MCFA products to better learner understanding of the fundamental concepts. The interactions allow learners to explore the principles that 'make things work' in the products themselves.

Barnett – GCP course

Designed for global clinical research professionals, the course aims to help learners apply Good Clinical Practices (GCP) through critical thinking. The learners recognize the potential impact of clinical trial decisions on the rights and safety of research participants, and data integrity, through the courses.

The course uses a combination of 2D vector graphics, graphic organizers, flowcharts and photo-based backgrounds to present the content. Sequences of text and visuals supported by crisp, fluid narration with various interactivities aiding the presentation of layered content. The course offers a seamless as well as an immersive learning experience. Simple design and relevant use of high-fidelity visuals and audio enhance the overall impact of the training. As learners get introduced to the standards and regulations set by Barnett International as well as gain proficiency in the practical applications of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), they are assessed for competency in core Good Clinical Practice (GCP), which helps in improving their overall performance and enhances their knowledge.

FitnessFirst – Bronze certification program

Fitness First is the largest privately owned health club group in the world. It consists of 540 Fitness First clubs worldwide reaching over 1 million members in 21 countries.

This is a ‘mobile-first’ approach course to allow Fitness First Australia employees to truly access training anytime, anywhere and using any device. With the proliferation of mobile device use among employees, the primary focus is making training accessible on those devices. This course is developed using their existing foundation instructor-led training into mobile-friendly eLearning courseware.

Henley – Dealing with difficult and abusive clients.

The course gives an overview of Henley’s business practice for dealing with clients whose behavior is or may become abusive and aggressive. It is targeted for all employees across departments with varied skills.

The primary objective is to empower learners in handling confrontational situations using approaches like AQUA (Acknowledge, Question, Understand, Action) over a phone call or in a face to face meeting with clients. The overall content is presented with an encouraging tone, thus eliminating fear as the motivation. The key points are presented through realistic photo-based scenarios between employees and clients.

ISS – Energy and Sustainability

The module is developed to teach, understand, and spread awareness about Energy & Sustainability. The solution proposed by Upside Learning (UL) is highly engaging and sophisticated and is developed using the rich visual style employed in the Human Touch series.

The visuals and animation use a mix of 2D background and 3D foreground and the output is made mobile-friendly. This module is also made to be localized in different languages in the future and hence has a structure which can accommodate multiple languages whenever needed.

NYSPI – Shared Decision Making

A mind map on Shared Decision Making for the behavioral health workforce. The course is taken by both, new and experienced healthcare providers. New healthcare providers are introduced to fundamental skills, while experienced providers use the module as a refresher.

The intention of the module is understood as: -To provide participants with basic knowledge about shared decision-making skills -To demonstrate to participants what the skill looks like in practice -To provide participants with opportunities to practice the skill We interpret these intentions as placing the course outcomes at a slightly higher level than the objectives indicated. While learners may not be completely ready to use the shared decision-making skills effectively, they must at least be able to demonstrate the foundational judgments and their understanding of what makes for effective practice.

TAL – Capability Card Sort Activity

Activity is to help employees identify their development priorities, supporting whatever direction of career movement they choose (development within the same role, broadening the existing role, expanding beyond the existing role or broadening in a different role).

There are various capability ‘tracks’, distinguished by color. Each track defines a particular facet of the capability – these are the various cards in each color.

The Multi-Cultural Workplace

The Association for Talent Development uses this course as an example in their E-Learning Instructional Design Certificate program.

Upside Learning has developed a digital intervention to present different aspects of cultural diversity. The course is meant to help learners understand how cultural diversity impacts communication in today's workplace. The curriculum is applicable to any organization that has a diverse workforce and addresses aspects such as body language, soft skills, negotiation, and so on.

The module uses a combination of 2D vector graphics and images, and is developed in Articulate Rise, making for a responsive output that can be viewed on any device. The learning experience also has embedded videos and interactivity designed to bring out the nuances of the various ways in which cultural diversity needs to be taken into consideration during interactions in the workplace.
